I have UHD on but only have a 2k TV any advice on this or is it a case of just getting a 4k TV ?

The error is indeed that the box is detecting that your TV doesn’t support UHD (most exactly, that it doesn’t support the HDCP level required for UHD).
The solution I would suggest, rather than anything in the link above, is to go into Settings/Picture on the box, and drop the resolution it is outputting from a UHD one down to the highest HD resolution.
This will enable you, variously depending on the app you are using, either to keep selecting UHD channels, or only to be offered HD resolution in the first place.
Where you have the choice of a stream in HD or UHD, it’s better with an HD-only TV to choose the HD stream, but if you do select the UHD one, at least it shouldn’t error, with the resolution change above on the box.
Keep you going while you save up for a 4K TV, anyway 😛
I ended up replacing my 11 year old Samsung LED full HD 32inch TV just over a week ago with a Samsung 4k QLED 43inch TV in the Currys sale got about £200 of the price.
I have the Now UHD package but dont have sport just entertainment and Sky Cinema and UHD looks very good on new TV in living room.
Dont have the pro box but do have an older version of the Youview box that still occasionally gets minor software updates.
I would do as Roy says and save your money and get a 4k TV. There are some good January sales the now for TVs.
After your kind words, I hesitate to point out that you still can’t get UHD on the Now Entertainment or Cinema subscriptions, and you only get HD as long as you have Boost.
So something’s upscaling it to that UHD goodness; either the YouView box set to one of the UHD settings, if it’s a DTR-T4000, or the Samsung TV itself, for a T4000 set less than UHD, or any other earlier YouView box that can’t go above HD.
Have a trawl for ‘UHD’ in the Search of the BBC iPlayer though, if you have a T4000 set to UHD in Settings/Picture & Sound, see what you can find to play that has the YouView box be the best it can be.
Otherwise, same recipe, but in the native app on the Samsung itself 😛
Yes I have the T4000.
I use the Amazon Prime app via the app on my new TV. As the Firestick I have is only HD and some UHD content on Prime looks good.
If the Firestick 4k Max comes down in price I may buy one. As I use the Firestick for Disney+ but can now get that on my new TV but do like the Firestick.
Yes I have boost and my new TV or my T4000 maybe upscaling to UHD on Now.
Will have a look in iPlayer over the weekend for some UHD stuff.
