Current TV package contract almost expired - unsure of £5 cost of EE TV App Extra

I've just received, an email stating that my TV Entertainment Contract is due to expire.

My Billing has just finished it's discount period, so assume that my new price (if not renewed) will be £24.44   (plus the price increase from 31st March 2024).

I'm unsure where the £24.44 is calculated, as billing suggests it's £21.97  (before the 31st march Price increase), with the current discount removed, but that's based on the RRP pricing !

Why would there be a charge for the EE TV App extra ? I don't use the app, so can this charge be removed ?

The new deal offered is £20 month for 24 months, which doesn't seem to have any discounts - £13+ more than what I was paying after discounts on current package.

I can get the Now TV package direct from Now for £6.99 a month (6 month rolling) or £9.99 monthly, and Netflix Basic for £6.99 monthly, and I've not used the BT box for the past two years (switch off at mains) - so it would be cheaper to go direct.

What extra does the £20 am month from BT provide ?

This is what I get currently until contract expires, and I'll be paying £20+

(No mention of EE TV App Extra)

The ability to record the entertainment channels on the box you don’t use and yearly price increases on a 2 year contract.

In your scenario, direct is the way to go unless access to discovery+ basic is important to you?

I think you also get Discovery+ Basic with the package.

No idea what EE App Extra is though but I thought BT App Extra was a dead product.

I have Entertainment direct with Now & haven't paid more than £4.99pm over the last four years. Every time you cancel a Now service they offer you a discounted price to continue.

@shawny1967Have you checked MyBT to see if there are any offers for EETV on there for you? Once you enter the final 3 months of your contract you should find that when you go to change your package on MyBT you are only presented with renewal offers. You might find that there are better offers than you’ve been offered in the email on there.

I don’t think that EETV is good value at standard prices. I would only consider it if I was able to get a really good price for the whole of the 24 month contract and would then take the hit with the annual price rises. Recording the NOW channels is just about its only USP, together with not having to take anything else if you only want the sport channels. We’ve just been offered a really good deal and have renewed.

@shawny1967 Our renewal letter arrived the other day, but I ignored it as we’d already renewed over the phone. I’ve just checked it and according to BT we’re currently paying £5pm month for EETV app extra and £13pm for HD and 4K, which we aren’t.

I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see special offers available on standard prices for some or all EETV packages by the end of the week.

Contacted them on Saturday, and was the agent said he could renew for another 24 months at the price I pay now.

I haven't received an confirmation email, but the order appears to be completed - however, when going to the offers section, it still shows that by TV subscription is expiring soon !

A further session with chat Agents - confirms the order, yet no confirmation email has been received.

I was paying a monthly discounted subscription of £6.85 a month, unsure if this will increase today , or retain at £6.85 until March 2025 ?
