We all know that the BT Sport channel Accurate Recording mechanism is flaky and we know the Eurosport channels do not use Accurate Recording at all and do not even bother keeping the EPG up to date for live coverage over-runs.
With the upcoming rebrand what infrastructure and processes will be being used going forward? Or is it far too early to say?
And for catch up then personally I would not be unhappy if they leveraged the Eurosport Player infrastructure as I find that superior to the BT Sport app in a number of important ways: The ability to chase-play live coverage by up to three hours, the better titling including event dates and times and of course *NO SPOILERS".
Well it will be the Discovery Plus app rather than the Eurosport player . Looking at how the current Discovery Plus app that does not generally have spoilers simply the description of the event. It will be interesting to see if they attempt to include all the short highlights and short items that the BT Sport app has or whether they stick to the reruns of the original live broadcasts and the standard length highlights and magazine programmes.
As to the linear channels I would hope that the accurate recording is implemented on all the Joint Venture supplied channels. That is something I would hope BT TV would push for , and I would expect them (BT TV) to push for same on the Now , AmC and Discovery channels.
One further question i would raise is how much of the existing BT Sport App on demand content will move over to the Discovery Plus app.
