Re: Do we have a proper fix for the Pro audio sync problems?

I am having awful lip-sync problems with my Pro Box. I am having to switch it off at the mains every day or else the lip-sync is bad.

I've just read your solution of the audio delay setting, I will try that. I have had this box for 3 years on the full TV package, I think I deserve a swap out box that works. Are the EE boxes any better?

Re: Do we have a proper fix for the Pro audio sync problems?

The Audio Sync is pretty bad on the Pro box, but its late....so adding delay only makes it worse, by far and away the worst it ever is is on TNT Sports Ultimate via the EPG, the same via Discovery Plus app on Apple TV is closer. Overtime ones eyes/mind can adjust and audio sync is a huge subjective thing, as much as I support that it should be objective, some people are more sensitive than others, also sometimes when viewing some 24p content then switching to 25fps or 50fps can look out of sync, when actually we are determining a change in frame rate. I find myself staring at just the mouths of people and even if its good sync eventually it looks out.

My recommendation to anyone struggling with sync (based on my experience) is to switch off ALL TV enhancements like noise correction, motion smoothing and so on, if you have a GAME mode use that, all those enhancements are disabled, when they are on they can add what either looks like a delay, or we perceive as a delay, and the perceived delay can vary from source to source. You mail nail the audio sync on one source only to change to another and it be out.

Re: Do we have a proper fix for the Pro audio sync problems?

I think the lip-sync is a problem with the box, probably aging hard disc affecting the caching for pause and rwd.

I was on to BT support for hours yesterday. Resetting router, swapping HDMI leads, swapping ports, disconnecting sound bar, everything you could think of, bar, sending me a new box. I have recently signed up to another 24 months of this!

As it is EE now, are the EE boxes any better? The BT website is showing EE TV with a different box.

Re: Do we have a proper fix for the Pro audio sync problems?

Don’t think so. It’s happened to me since the Pro box was brand new.

The way I used to fix it was quickly going into settings on the Pro box and increasing the delay, saving it, then changing it back to 0.

However I changed one setting on my Sony TV recently. I changed the audio output from Auto (I think) to Dolby Audio. This seems to have done the trick now for about 2 months. Can’t explain it.

Re: Do we have a proper fix for the Pro audio sync problems?

Ive used lots of hardware over the years, the EETV Pro Box audio sync is not great, whether thats the box or the feed I dont know, Ive not had any of the other Multicast services before, would be interesting to check if using an aerial for the feed was better.

To me the audio sync is late and sometimes changing the output to stereo then back to surround again brings it back closer but then after a while it slips again. I mostly use the box for watching football or recording football, otherwise I use my Apple TV apps, if the box was my daily driver I think it would eventually do my head in.
