EETV IPC6023 error with Draytek 2862 router

Hi

I'm getting the IPC6023 error when watching sky sports, tnt sports etc. Seems fine on channels like BBC HD.

The HD sports channels work for about 5 mins and then the error appears. I can change channel and then return to the channel which works straight away but the error re-appears again after a few mins. Sometime the error disappears and the channel works again without any intervention.

The tv is connected by ethernet cable and when I do a speed test using a laptop using the same cable I'm getting 900Mbs

I have the latest firmware installed 3.9.9.7_BT

The IGMP is enabled including snooping.

When I use the supplied BT router all is fine so I assume I either have a setting wrong or the router is not up to it.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Mike V.

Good morning @vandenm, welcome to the BT Community Forums.

Based on the connection you've described here it doesn't sound like there is anything immediately wrong as far as this is concerned; do you notice issues with any other devices you have connected?

Have you had a chance to try a reset on your box, as indicated in this article, too?

@Peter_W

I think @vandenm acknowledges that, but he wants to use his own router, which will need tweaking to achieve this. And while support will not be forthcoming from EETV, which is fair enough, there are some people on the Community who may well be able to help.

As I don’t fall into the category, I will summon someone who does @naylor2006

For ref:

IPTV/IGMP/Multicast Solution for Edgemax Router | Ubiquiti Community

This is a post about how an IGMP Proxy and Snooping alone will not always provide the full solution and where in cases where it works but cuts out after a period of time can be pinned to firewall rules, of course the router OS in the link is not yours nor is the hardware but its just a common issue and the link is an example of how some people have fixed it.

So....I did not setup firewall rules, I just have an IGMP proxy but the key point is I setup my IGMP on a separate LAN and interface, I have an ER-X so can specifically configure it that way, IE traffic comes in on the WAN and goes out via a single router interface (ethernet port) which the EETV connects directly to. Therefore ALL Multicast traffic is grabbed and sent out one router port and the only things attached to that port are EETV's.....no snooping required at all, which really the quality of implementation on some routers is quite poor, click and hope.

The recommendation from me would be to try and transpose those firewall rules from the lessons in the link OR much more easier....create a separate LAN just for the EETV and assign one interface to it. Alternatively you can achieve the same via VLAN's but again adds complexity.

Some people have more luck than others from Router to Router, I always advocate IPTV being on a separate LAN and the IGMP proxy configured for that LAN attached to one physical port, seems pretty fool proof that way.

Thank you for all the feedback so far. I'll try as you say and setup a separate LAN and see how I get on and report back in a few days time.
