Freeview intermittent sound BBC3 and4

The sound on BBC 3 and 4 is very poor and regularly does not work. BT have tested all the equipment, Smart TV (LG), broadband signal, aerial strength and sound signal and all are as strong as they can be for our area, Filey, served by the new Bilsdale transmitter. This has been a long standing problem and speaking to Freeview, they were no use, advising to replace an almost new HDMI cable. It is a nuisance rather than a serious problem 'cos I can get access via i-player or through Freeview via the TV rather than the Freeview box but this is fiddly.

BT engineer said he had never come across the problem. So has anyone else and is there a fix?

The HD or SD versions of the channels? What about other channels on the same MUX?

As for the HDMI cable that may be picking up interference from other cables and electrical equipment it is running past or close to.  Try turn everything not needed to watch these channels and try moving the cable away from any other cabling.  Could be a power supply wart that is pumping out excessive interference.

Thanks. Doesn't matter whether HD or SD. BT engineer tested cabling and advised all was OK.

Is the sound issue also apparent on CBBC and CBeebies which are the channels that are broadcast until 7pm when Three and Four takeover ?

Also if you record from THREE  or FOUR  does the sound issue occur on the recording as well as live viewing ?

Similarly if in live viewing does rewinding back into the buffet and playing exhibit the same problem as current live viewing ?

Thanks. Just tested the CBBC channels and they are working perfectly. Rarely do any recording and unlikely on BBC 3 or 4 so cannot comment. Seems unlikely it would pick up if no sound.

We have the same problem. We were told it was because our Bt box was faulty. The new one again doesn’t allow sound on BBC 4. We have to go to I player to watch!
