HBO Max replacing Discovery+ for TNT Sports?

Hi,

My current TV package incudes the 4 x TNT Sports Channels via a STB, and access to Discovery+ online to catchup on sports I've missed, and other Discovery+ channels. With the newly announced HBO Max coming to the UK in March, they say they will have TNT Sports also. Are they taking over from Discovery+ for TNT Sports channels and catch up, or as well as Discovery+ ?

Cheers,

Andy

It looks like it's all going to be rolled in to the new HBO Max app. Doesn't say if the EPG channels for TNT will still be available or not.

Re: HBO Max replacing Discovery+ for TNT Sports?

I think this has all my answers:

https://www.tntsports.co.uk/all-sports/hbo-max-the-new-streaming-home-of-tnt-sports_sto23264114/stor...

So I reckon my current TNT Sports via STB and TNT Sports online via Discovery+ package will become TNT Sports via STB and TNT Sports via HBO Max. But I won't get access to HBO Max entertainment films/TV by default, I would have to pay extra for that. Specifically this:

BT & EE TV
From the 26 March you can continue to access TNT Sports and discovery+ entertainment content on HBO Max, download the HBO Max app and sign in with your discovery+ email and password.

Wonder how this will effect Sky/now  as all current HBO stuff is already available there.

@Kodikid getting HBO Max with ads bundled at no extra cost... Same as Netflix, Discovery+ and Paramount+... There'll be an upgrade path to Premium which based on pricing tiers, I'd imagine it'll be around £9

Re: HBO Max replacing Discovery+ for TNT Sports?

I hope the change of app does not mean a loss of any functionality which I find useful, such as chase-playing live coverage. And that they do not plaster spoilers across catch up content.

I have tried to get a heads up look at this new service but all I get is that it is not yet available in my region ... not very helpful nor is it promising.

Re: HBO Max replacing Discovery+ for TNT Sports?

@gomezz  I suspect that the discovery+ platform upgrade that they did last year effectively put discovery+ onto the platform that HBO Max uses - so the sports features you mention should be unaffected. They (WBD) have migrated or moved several European services already . The challenge with discovery+  I experience is actually finding the sport content (right length highlight/full rerun etc0.

Yep. Since seen that info posted elsewhere and that all that effectively remains is to rebrand the skin of the current app.

Re: HBO Max replacing Discovery+ for TNT Sports?

I’ve had the email below which seems to suggest I’ll get access to the tnt sports standalone tier via max plus the entertainment channels that remain on the discovery plus app

NB I pay bt directly for my tnt sports on sky

Re: HBO Max replacing Discovery+ for TNT Sports?

Since having BT Sport we've BT TV->EE TV inc the EE app I use for some sport (No ads), TNT Sport, Discovery+, now HBO Max?

I can't get my head around this currently, but the email mentions 'If you want to watch TNT Sports via the HBO Max app on your EE TV box, we need to upgrade you to a brand-new box that supports the HBO Max app, at no extra charge.' - I'm guessing the current EE TV Recordable box doesn't need upgrading?

All this change doesn't sound good - they will end up charging more for it I guess, plus they have lost most of the sports rights that I signed up for, so have known for a while that I'll be leaving at some stage.
