Hi all,use to have tv from virgin and recordings lasted until deleted but recordings on the ee tv box seem to delete themselves after a few days?Completely new to ee and don’t understand it.Thanks.
If you are in IP Mode (no aerial connected) and you record ephemeral material like News broadcasts then these die when they expire on the BBC iPlayer.
If you have filled your hard disc (unlikely if you are new) then older recordings will be deleted to make room for new ones unless you protect them, but I doubt it’s that.
Other than that, either the box is faulty, or you are pressing a wrong button and thus deleting recordings when you don’t intend to.
So - are you in IP Mode or Aerial Mode, and what are examples of programmes being deleted, Title, Time, Duration and Channel?
And what buttons are you pressing, so to speak, to manage your recordings?
(I can deduce that we are talking about a Box Pro here).
Hi,thanks, the box is one of those ee box’s with the ee logo light and it’s on the wifi.I press the red r button on the remote. The tv is not a smart tv but the tv but the ee box has made it so I can have amazon prime, sky etc like I had before with virgin.
Recorded Gavin and Stacey and that was deleted when I went to watch it today!Recorded things from mtv and they delete before I can watch them 😕
Thank u for ur reply 🙂
Hi @newtoee
I am presuming you have a EE box pro
this
is how the device guide describes how to play back a recording.
Recordings should stay on the box until one of the following events occurs
1 ) You delete it
2) Your box has a full factory reset
3) Your box is set to Auto Delete when old recordings will delete (to accomodate new recordings) if your box hard drive is full, (If you are recording a lot of TNT Sports Ultimate channel content then this can eat up the available space quite quickly),
Recordings made may not be playable in some circumstance but should sill be listed (eg BBC recordings may be marked as"Watch in App" or "Unavailable" .
The list of recordings as displayed on the box Pro can be confusing as the home page combines "Recordings & Watchlist items you have to select My TV and the Recordings page to see all the recordings and even then "episodes" are likely to be grouped under a series. Selecting My Tv will also show what percentage Free disk space you have for recordings.
Very helpful 🙂 thank u for ur answer 🙂
So not deleted, just superseded in the rail (or ‘row’ as we lay people say) by other thumbnails, and safely still stashed on the box, waiting to be found when you click the My TV button (which doesn’t look very clickable).
If it’s any consolation, you are not the first person to be caught out by this 😢
Definitely think virgin was more of an easier set up.virgin customer service was just vile though.ee seem better and got a good deal.
