Humax DTR-T1000 !HELP!

Hello,

My Humax you view box went kaput so I just bought myself off eBay an old model

I can connect fine to the internet but unable to tune into any channels or do a software update,  none of the ON Demand features work either .   I've done factory reset but no difference .

Have the TV ariel straight into the back of the you view box and then connected to my TV via HDMI cable

Any assistance much appreciated.

regards

Re: Humax DTR-T1000 !HELP!

Get your money back from the eBay seller is my best advice.  I wouldn't pay more than a tenner for even a guaranteed working T1000 in any case.  A Humax Fox T2 would be my choice if looking for an old, used Freeview PVR but they are as rare as hen's teeth these days.  That alongside a Chromecast dongle or Firestick  would give your everything and more that even the newest PVR can offer.

The DTR-T1000 is no longer supported, and a software update was delivered earlier this year specifically to block it from accessing anything online. If this wasn't made clear in the eBay listing then you'll be entitled to demand a refund.

Re: Humax DTR-T1000 !HELP!

Thanks DarrenDev

I just came across another thread regarding this model where you have posted.

So basically after it was factory reset to clear all previous data it seems now blocked to find any services(channels/OnDemand) so it's basically useless to me ??

Re: Humax DTR-T1000 !HELP!

If you have an aerial connected then it should still tune to Freeview channels ok, and be able to record them. That's all it can now do.

Yeh i'm not worried about accessing ondemand as can do that through my smart TV but no idea why it's not finding the TV channels. I even tried on a TV in another room again coneecting ariel straight to box and same result !!

Re: Humax DTR-T1000 !HELP!

The HDR-Fox T2 that @gomezz suggested will be painfully slow to start as it has no standby options.  The few apps it has were awful 10 years ago. But:

It can be loaded with custom firmware which has a number of very useful options. Probably the most notable being the ability to decrypt HD recordings & offload them via USB. So you can backup recordings to guard against box failure.

Re: Humax DTR-T1000 !HELP!

the TV channels that are subscription channels use the internet connection to stream, if you have issues with the router that you are using it may not be working correctly and preventing the subscription channels from working.

The free-view channels should work through the normal antenna on the roof as long as it's a digital antenna.

If this is not working id advise trying a software update on the box, if the free is still not working then you may need a replacement youview box.

I'd say use the original BT smart hub for now and check that everything works, do some more research on alternative routers you can use that are still supported with updates.

Re: Humax DTR-T1000 !HELP!

@TECHHERO1984 @redbridgefc

The T1000 is not a router, it’s a PVR. Or rather, it was, once 😢

However, if you have bought one of these off eBay as a working PVR, then you have been sold a pup; as above, it’s obsolete, and many of its features were actively disabled by YouView in January.

So unless it was sold, and you bought it, as a museum piece, send it back and get a refund. The chancer who sold it probably won’t quibble, but if they do, eBay themselves should intercede on your behalf.

As to what you do want; if you subscribe to EETV, they will lend you a Box Pro, the latest and most up-to-date recording YouView box.

But maybe you just want a working PVR and not much else? In which case go for a YouView DTR-T2xxx off eBay, where xxx is anything but 000, or even the more capable and more up to date DTR-T4000.

Other makes of PVRs exist, with various pros and cons, but the above are models where we can help you with any issues you may have.

As we can indeed, possibly, with whatever YouView box just went kaput on you, depending on what model it is, and the particular version of kaput it went.

Re: Humax DTR-T1000 !HELP!

Yes all I wanted was a basic cheap PVR model and saw loads of this model on eBay so went for it but as you mention it's obsolete and I will therefore be returning it.

I will check the models you mention and even the option of signing up to EE TV.

thanks again
