Sound and picture come in by the hdmi cable, if you are getting one but not the other I would start there.  Check it's in fully or try another port on the TV - failing that perhaps a new cable.

As you are getting sound then you must be on the correct input for the box

Are the box menus displaying normally ?

what happens when you use say BBC iPlayer  and ITVX apps on the box , do they also have no picture and sound  ?

Without the on-screen guide I don't know how to access the apps. I know the channel numbers for some of the internet channels such as 341 etc.

If you restart the box (holding the BT or EE button ) on the box for about 10 seconds or after the box has been powered off  does the Youview (may possibly be EETV these days) logo appear on the screen when the box starts before the screen then goes blonk ?

Should I try disconnecting box and plug TV in directly to eliminate problem with box?

I would power off both the EE TV box and the TV for a couple of minutes and then power on the TV (only) . Do you have a smart TV with its own set of apps. ? Do the TV own menus display on screen ?

If they do then switch power  on the EETV again and see if any change ?

Which TV (brand and model is it ?

any other TVs in the household ?
