My old bt tv box remote could be programmed to pair with my tv,Mitchell and Brown, but box pro doesnot have a pairing facility and does not work my TV.
I still have the old remote and it works fine with new box.So why can't I program my new remote ?
Control is now over HDMI rather than IR. Have a read of this thread & see if it helps.
If you don’t want to put any effort into trying to solve it, a BT engineer is probably the best bet.
It is not a question of effort,it is a question of whether the remote works with all TV's or not.The BT expert when I reported this problem said that probably it doesnot work with all TV's.
I ask, can you pair the remote or not ,does it have the facility to pair and if it can't pair why is it even in use?
I tried HDMI fix and no good.
As already said, it uses HDMI to communicate so there is nothing to pair. I'm afraid neither I nor BT can guarantee it works with every TV on the planet, especially if you choose to buy an obscure brand.
I don't know what you mean by "Why is it even in use?"
I wonder how much of an expert you are? Are you BT's official spokesman on this subject ?
As I said I am no expert on TVs but you could have explained what HDMI is and what it is doing.I take it you mean that the remote only talks to the BT box and then the BT box communicates with the TV . See it is easy to explain in layman's terms.
So the user guide says categorically, ie guarantees, that the remote will control the TV. Nothing is mentioned of "obscure brands" but my TV is only obscure to you.
So, Do we have a fault or are we saying BT missed this on testing. How about having a chat with the Developers.
ps having been a BT and software engineer for 38 years I do find your tone a little unhelpfull .
pps
My TV ,Mitchell & Brown sold 8 million units in 2016 and is the largest producer of TVs in europe. That is not obscure.
