Pixelation on tv channels

Hi all, looking for some help if possible. We recently had our BT line installed and got a tv box which is connected over the wifi. We don’t have a working aerial and the router is in another room so that’s our only option. About a month ago all the channels started to show pixelation, sometimes to the point they’re unwatchable. I’ve had a look through the forum and ended up buying a variable attenuator which hasn’t done anything.

The main line is connected from a pole in the street but doesn’t appear to be affected by weather etc as it’s pretty constant.

Thanks!

Re: Pixelation on tv channels

Apologies I can a little confused as you state you purchased a variable attenuator which would usually be used for an antenna based DVB-T reception yet you state you have no working aerial.

How are you receiving Freeview channels - via an indoor antenna or over the IP steaming [no antenna option] via Wi-Fi or wired Ethernet?

Re: Pixelation on tv channels

As @Starman says, an attenuator will only work if you're using an aerial for Freeview broadcasts. If you're using WiFi for your terrestrial channels, it's probably a WiFi related issue and your box isn't getting a strong enough signal resulting in a slow connection speed...
