Series Record Problems

New problem, has anyone else got problems with series record? Can series record some programmes but not others. All are terrestrial channels and there is no rhyme or reason to it. Really annoying so appreciate any answers.

@JH29

The starting point for any solution is that you should give us concrete examples of programmes that you can series record, and programmes you would expect to be able to series record, but can’t.

It would also be useful to know which YouView box we are talking about, and if it’s the Pro box, whether you are getting the Freeview channels over a terrestrial aerial, or via IP.

And we’ll go from there!

Re: Series Record Problems

I have what sounds like a similar problem.
it’s random which channel or program, but I’ll hit record series and it might do for a week or some days, then for no known reason just forget that it’s meant to do it. When I check it’s not planned to be recorded anymore and no errors, no previously disrupted recordings. I haven’t got the solution sorry but I can see from previous posts that they don’t know how to fix it or what’s causing it

Re: Series Record Problems

BT TV/YouView uses “Accurate Recording” which relies on a signal from the broadcaster to tell the box when to start or stop recording.

Some broadcasters are very good at it, others are not super consistent and almost all struggle when there is a programme overrun (such as a live event).

There used to be a fairly good thread on the YouView forum that explained the basic mechanics, alas the forum is no longer.

Hard to offer a solution, it happens on all boxes, across both IP delivered and Freeview based channels in my experience. Personally, I found using IP mode more reliable for recording, but have no real evidence it actually was.
