Please accept my ignorance re streaming services - I do not have any of them.  If he buys the EE TV sports package (for football) what is the relationship with the Now & Discovery+ apps you mentioned?

There are two sports packages available with BT/EE TV.

Sky Sports is actually delivered by the Now platform. So as well as watching on the Pro Box, it can also be watched via the Now app on any device that supports it.

Likewise TNT Sport is also available through the DIscovery+ app.
