I bought a new remote control and when I set it up all the buttons work perfectly except the volume and mute buttons. If I hold the AD button and press volume I can turn the sound up or down but not mute.
Any ideas?
At a guess you have set up the remote to operate a TV that is a different make to your current TV, and therefore are using the AD button to adjust the volume on the youview box itself. Or your new remote was pre-set for a different TV.
Try resetting the remote and see how you get on without pairing with a TV.
And then if you are still having difficulty come back and tell us which remote model it is.

We’d like to help you, but you haven’t told us what the make and model of remote is, nor the make and model of TV.
And nor how, if at all, this is connected to any of the equipment that EE TV supply.
(@Lսkе has assumed it is a YouView remote, but I’m not sure that’s the case).
With these few supplementary facts, we should perhaps be able to take a stab at your question.
It may be a non-youview remote but following my suggestion will quickly reveal whether or not that is the situation as the link I posted would not match Annemmcl 's remote.
What happens with the AD button is consistent with at least 1 of the youview remotes and not any of the non-youview remotes which are sometimes reported as being used as a substitute. The likelihood is that the remote is a youview remote.
If Annemmcl resets and starts from scratch without attempting to pair with a TV then we should be able to get a better understanding of what is happening. And also when the remote is reset Annemmcl will have to work out which particular remote model is being used, and hopefully tell us.

The remote is exactly the same one as I got with my Youview box. It is a BT YouView remote control. The TV is a Toshiba.
It's only the volume buttons that don't work.

Which of the three is it, as the correct programming to control your Toshiba TV depends on following the instructions for your particular remote.
Do you have the codes for Toshiba TVs? Usually 5523, but could vary, as recent Toshibas may be just rebadged TVs from other manufacturers.
The model number of the YouView box and of the Toshiba TV will help us here.

If it still doesn’t work, try 2811 for Vestel.
My remote is the first one.
It say to hold AD, SUB and Power at the same time to reset. A blue light should flash after holding for 5 secs but it doesn't. I've tried several times.
