Tv box

I’m thinking of switching to BT tv. Does the BT box require any tv aerial etc or does it run on Wi-Fi alone?

Re: Tv box

Better of looking at the Now service direct. Then getting the likes of a Firesitck if you dont already have a Firestick.

You can put an aerial in the ETTV box to get the full Freeview channels.
If you set the box to IP mode then you may lose some Freeview channels.
As not all Freeview channels are still via IP.

The EETV pro box is meant to be good but I have never used one but the box gets 8 out of 10 good reviews.

Now is cheaper direct, but does not the address the requirement for Freeview channels.

And to find these on a Firestick, although you can, you have to switch from app to app according to the broadcaster you want to access. Or subscribe to an aggregating app. And you still only get those Freeview channels that are available over the internet anyway.

What is it that you want to get out of a TV service like EETV? Tell us that, and we can advise you further.

Before the Box Pro/Box Mini current lineup, you did, yes, but no longer. And indeed, an aerial is now an option only on the Box Pro.

However, without an aerial, you won’t get all the Freeview channels, only those from the big broadcasters and a few others, you won’t be able to make as many simultaneous recordings as you can with an aerial, you won’t be able to skip ads on recorded itv programmes, and BBC programmes will only pseudorecord, actually directing you to the iPlayer when you try to play them back. And the ‘recordings’ expire when the programmes in question leave iPlayer.

But for those who don’t want, or can’t have, an aerial, this may be a preferred solution.

There is a TV guide on the Firestick, which mixes the main terrestrial channels with the Amazon Freevee and Pluto TV streaming channels. The main terrestrail channels top the list. Selecting a BBC, ITV, CH4 channel, (CH5 not in the list), will open the relevant app and stream directly. It's an option, though not one I'd use to be honest. The plus side though all the available channels in the TV guide will stream in HD, (rather than the grotty televisual experience on Freeview).
