Our regular TV channels are unwatchable during most evenings, they are pixelated and a complete mess. Before I call out a BT/EE Tech guy, does anyone else have any clue what's going on please? I've heard it could be linked to 5G phone signal interference which is why EE have launched a new ROUTER? But I have no confirmation of this. Please someone, advise what we can do, grateful for your help and support, David
I take it you are talking about reception on an EE TV device, in which case it would be useful to know which one, whether it is in Aerial Mode (only applies to the Box Pro, and earlier YouView boxes) or IP Mode.
Assuming you are talking about Aerial Mode, the very first step is to bypass the device and try your aerial direct into your TV, and see if you get the same issue there. If you do, then you have an aerial problem, not an EETV problem, and you should check your aerial and the connections to it, as far as you can, and if you can find nothing yourself, get it checked by a local installer.
But if the TV picture is fine, the next step is to look at Settings/TV Signal Quality, and report back what that says, for some or all of the affected channels. If both are low, significantly less than 100%, you have an aerial problem; as above, again.
But if both are 100%, then you could have an overload problem (imagine the aerial SHOUTING at the TV instead of speaking to it)
This, you may be able to address with a variable attenuator. This silly rules here mean I can’t link to one, but try an online store named after a large South American river, and a search term something like Loops Aerial Coaxial Cable Variable Attenuator.
Then you just place it in line between the aerial cable and the Box Pro, pick a pixelating channel and turn the red knurled control a little at a time from the maximum until the pixelation abates. Or you might want to do this while watching the Signal Quality display; turn the unsayable until Quality just drops below 100% and then back a little.
Wow, what a fantastic response, you are a really great person, I shall look into everything you suggest, you have been very kind! David
I know I am - I’m just making a point 😛
If I was on the EE Community, I could link to it though (or at least those who have done so in the past have never been stopped or sanctioned). Why is that?
