No - as I mentioned, the box has never been offered for sale.

If you don't return the box, you will be charged a penalty - however the box will still remain the property of EE.

So, there are no circumstances where they will let you use the box as a BT Broadband and telephone customer. Seems a bit odd as I would then just go to another ( likely cheaper) provider and buy my own PVR?

If you have no EE TV subscription anymore, then we gain nothing from you keeping the TV Box - you can't even buy anything in the EE TV store. You're just holding onto equipment that we could refurbish and send to another customer.  Also, the Internet mode won't work for you either, so it just becomes a plain PVR - you may as well go buy one from someone else.

BE a freely box or a freeview DO not buy EEtv box if your are not A customer ?

if you BUYING EE tv or BT box your buying a paperweight not to buying buying outside oF EE/BT

If theres aa change in the signal that EE/BT box cant pickup theen you will buying new box anyway

or maybe you bought a faulty box and seller will not honour a refund

Can I add a bit of context here 

Before 2019 you kept you BT box..after that you had to send them back or be changed 

Think the current none return fee is £160

Sky and Virgin no longer offer pvr's putting all their eggs in the streaming basket 

EE themselves have lost all interest in the aging pro box and leaning more towards apple tv

My point is after 7 years EE/BT have made no attempt at all to "disable" the pro box to none subscribers 

With their current state of apathy towards the pro box it's unlikely to start  now

Ignore the doom mongers and enjoy your pro box safe in the knowledge you're literally saving hundreds by not having a EE subscription

EE haven't lost interest in the TV Box Pro or Edge - they're still our main boxes, and most customers choose these. Software on the TV Boxes is updated multiple times a year, with the latest update being last week.
Apple TV is available as an alternative for those who want it.

It's possible that the boxes will never be disabled, but it needs to be a consideration when you make your choice.

I suppose the point I was making was that I would choose to sign up to a new Broadband contract ( and home phone) whereas ,with no box, I would probably go elsewhere .

@homerhotspur There’s always the option of remaining out of contract on your EETV subscription, even if you renew broadband and phone. I don’t know which package you are on or if you were taking advantage of any special offers. You are not able to flex your package by doing this, but it is a consideration. This is what we have done as we were reluctant to commit to a new 24 month contract for tv.

Thanks, I am now out of contract but obviously still paying for my package. What I hoped to do was renew for just Broadband and home phone and use the box for freeview and any streaming services which I may sign up to from time to time ( no more contracts) but this seems impossible.

Why would internet mode not work if I kept BT Broadband/ hub etc?
