You need to have a current EETV subscription for IP mode to work. I believe it is due to the contracts that BT have signed with the content providers in order for IP mode to be available to tv subscribers only.
Ignoring the contractual requirements - there is a cost to distributing TV channels via IP. Why would that be given for free to non subscribers?

Just to confirm the box arrived today and connected without issue to my Vodafone fibre network, a much better interface and experience compared to the Manhattan T4 which is now on Ebay!
