I came home and my DTR T2100 was on with a blue light showing, but the TV wasn't receiving a signal from it and it didn't respond to the remote or any button presses.
I switched it off with the power button, but now when I try to switch it back on there is no power - nothing happens at all.
The plugs on my other 12v power packs are too big to fit so I can't confirm if it's the power pack at fault (although I suspect not since it was working until I switched it off).
Any thoughts as to what (else) the cause/solution might be?
Most likely a faulty hard drive.
Switch it off again for a few seconds and power it up in a quite room with your ear to it, listen for any repetitive clicking noises or the persistent sound of a small electric motor repeatedly starting up and shutting down, either one confirms a faulty drive
Cheers for the reply but it won't power up at all. I've tried with a new plug so it's not that.
Do you think it could repaired (or the disk transferred to another box)?
I don't want to lose all my recordings if I can help it. 😪
Worth me opening it up to see if I can see anything?
The disk spin up is part of the box start up process, if the disk fails then the box won't start. Listen for the noises I described in my earlier post,
There's no noise at all. No power lights come on - makes me think it could be something other than just the disk.
I guess based on what you say the box wouldn't work as a basic Freeview tuner if the disk has failed?
No.
BT will replace it if you're in contract but if not then you could do worse than look at Gumtree or EBay
Facebook Marketplace is another source for cheap T2100s.
If you Google "DTR T2100 hdd upgrade" you'll find instructions for accessing the HDD. But there's a suggestion that transferring a disk to another box might cause it to be initialised/wiped. But as you currently don't have access anyway I guess there's nothing to lose by trying. It would also give you another PSU to try first.
There's some very knowledgable guys on the Hummy.tv site & as it's a Humax manufactured box, you may find assistance there.
I tried a new power pack and no effect. I put in a new HDD (with the old power pack) and still no power. Any ideas what might be wrong?
