I tried to turn on my EE TV main box today and nothing happened, except a red light at the bottom of the TV started flashing. 3 flashes, a pause of a few seconds, then 3 more flashes, pause, etc. I turned off and unplugged the main box, waited a few minutes, then turned it back on. The red light continued flashing throughout. So I unplugged the TV lead, which got rid of the flashing red light, waited 5 minutes, then plugged it in again. The flashing light returned. Blank TV screen. Then I went to check my EE TV mini box, at the other end of the house, and that was all fine. Working normally.
Can anyone suggest how to fix this problem, please?
Hi @johncellis I’m guessing that the flashing red light is on your TV and not your EE TV Box? If this is the case, then you need to seek help from the TV’s manufacturer or the retailer that sold it to you. What is the make and model of the TV?
Hi there. The red light is indeed on the TV, so I feel sure you are right.
It's a LG TV (Model No. OLED55G45LW)
Thanks for your help. We are about to go off on a fortnight's cruise, so I am unable to pursue manufacturer or retailer until our return.
Are you sure it's not just the TV box?
Sounds like the output from the TV box has failed and the TV just goes into standby mode. (Mine does that if I forget to turn the TV box on when I've turned it off). Is it a couple of minutes before the red light appears or is it immediate?
Try using the mini box in place of the main box using the same lead and see what happens.
Thanks for the suggestion. But I have no time to fiddle around with the boxes for the next 2 weeks. And though my guarantee on the TV has just expired, I can call out an engineer under my insurance policy.
Ah, for my TV to switch to standby takes a couple of minutes.
