554 Message rejected for policy reasons (2.1.2.3)

I have a Gmail address (@gmail.com)  that i am unable to receive emails from to my @btopenworld.com account ? It is driving me insane. I have tried sending to postmaster@btinternet.com but got no where? The gmail.com email address isn't blocked in my btopenworld.com account? and same vice versa ?

Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks.

Below is the reply i got from postmaster@btinternet.com

Hi

Thank you for contacting the binternet.com postmaster.

It looks like you are customer of the bt email service (btinternet.com, btopenworld.comtalk21.com), we’re sorry but postmaster@btinternet.com is really only for queries from external senders or other postmasters.

To get the help you need please try these links:

If you are unable to send emails and are seeing rejection messages please try these steps

  • check you are not sending from a VPN (virtual private network) – these IP address can be sources of spam and can be blocked
  • trying using “what is my IP” in google, finding your public IP address, and checking this is associated with your ISP service provider
  • If the IP address is not associated with your ISP provider, you can try restarting your router, or ensuring you connect from outside your VPN
  • check if your IP is blacklisted (try searching IP blacklist in google) – if it is blacklisted you need report this to your service provider, note you cannot report non-BT IP blacklists to BT

Thank you

btinternet.com postmaster team

When you were checking for the email address did you ensure that the gmail domain was not in your blocked list?

Re: 554 Message rejected for policy reasons (2.1.2.3)

Try using @btinternet.com instead of @btopenworld.com in your email address.

As you have only mentioned that there are no gmail email addresses have you confirmed what I have previously posted about looking specifically for the gmail domain (the part after @)which could be listed. Domains that are blocked are usually found at the top of the blocked list.

Are the emails you are sending new emails or are you forwarding an email? If the latter can you try the former.
