Go to solution

When I add an attachment to an email, even though it shows only that selected file in the attachment when it is sent, the whole of my document file in its entirety is sent with it. When I moved the selected file to a different place and it is no longer part of the document file it still sends the whole of the document file but without the selected file on the attachment. How can I rectify this please?

I discovered this when I checked a sent email and then ran tests to myself to see if it did the same and it did.

Thanks in advance

Are you sure it is sending the whole file. Has this been confirmed by a recipient of the email or is it just when you click on the attachment in your email account on your device that it is opening the folder where the attachment is stored.

Many thanks for the reply.

I sent an email with an attachment to a friend and it was OK so it looks as though it is internal and only I see the additional files.

Such a relief. Thanks again.

Is there any way I can stop this happeing even though it is only on my end of the attachment.

Cheers

When you are checking the email attachment you click on the small arrow at the side of the attachment. This downloads the attachment into your download folder and when you click to view it by clicking on the folder icon it will open the folder that the downloaded folder is stored in. It does this by opening Windows Explore which shows all your folders/files. This is only viewable on your computer.

Instead of clicking the "view folder" icon click on the link below where it says "Open File" this will stop the above happening and the attachment will open on its own.

If you want to you can also click on the attachment's icon instead of the above and this will open the attachment as a PDF document without downloading it.

Many thanks.
I should have added that I use an iMac computer so does that still apply?

I don't use an iMac but I suspect that what I posted will work in a similar manner when using BTMail.

Many thanks I will test this out.
It has been such a relief to know that others are not receiving my documents.
Many thanks again.
