Thank you everyone for your constructive comments and advice. I have now downloaded and installed Thunderbird and am most impressed! All my past emails and contacts plus 'folders' have been restored to my windows -based screen. I still cannot figure out why BT allowed this **bleep** up to happen. Must have been the apprentice?
