This is a complain t rather than a question.
Much of the general text is now shades of grey and other colours, as is this text. Emails with typed in text that I have received have grey font. I realise that I can change the colour of the text in my own emails to black, but that doesn't help me. I'm old and my sight is poor. I'm really fed up with the presumably young designers using pale colours for text. Not just here, everywhere. I assume they think it looks good. The RNIB has a Business Services Team that helps eg web designers to make their sites friendly to all users. I wish the BT team had contacted the RNIB before redesigning this site.
