Just received an email purportedly from BT saying I need to update profile or my services will be suspended and then gives a link to amend profile.
Im concerned because the email is from btcomms@chaseandpiper.co.uk. Is this genuine or phishing?
Solved! Go to Solution.
It is a scam.
BT use BT domain not the one shown.
Do not click on any links a delete it.
I've just had a similar one, purportedly from btcomms@laylahillauthor.com. Again, not a BT domain, so clearly a scam. I've reported it to BT and Action Fraud.
Seems there must be a current wave of these that BT's spam filters are failing to recognise and block.
Recd from bt commms @ Bt78.com " Your profile needs to be updated .................
What you need to do
It is necessary for you to amend your profile.
Please do this now, to prevent closure of your service. Click the "amend now" button.
Amend now:
We'll reattempt to check your profile details again shortly.
If this fails again, we'll have to stop your services and apply a penalty fee to your bill."
Junk email a phishing attempt.
Please edit out those links. If they are not removed in 5 minutes I will remove your post from public view, in case someone clicks on those links.
Gosh, thanks, I never thought of that !
