If you leave BT ,( so are not a BT Broadband customer ) your email is reduced to a basic webmail type service, so its available but probably not how you use it now ( so no email clients on your phone , laptop, tablet etc ) , you would have to log into ‘BT’ using a browser to check if there was any email for you , or if you wanted to send an email using your @btinternet.com address
