Hi, Please help. It is so frustrating I cannot link my BT email address to Outlook 365. I have tried the IMAP settings Port 993 for outgoing and 465 for outgoing.
Solved! Go to Solution.
Try 587 & TLS and tick the SPA check box for the outgoing server.
It's not settings you've no doubt seen on the BT help page but TLS, although a tad slower, is more secure than SSL
Do NOT tick the SPA box, that will definitely not work.
With SSL and TLS the password is already encrypted, hence Secure Password Authorisation isn't needed.
My mistake @licquorice is, of course, correct
Thank you, I will try 587.
The option is TLS/SSL. I unfortunately cannot choose one or the other.

You do not need to choose. Tick the box that has TLS/SSL.
Unfortunately 587 does not work either.
I contacted the technical department I bought laptop from. They say I have to talk to BT. Have no idea what department at BT I would even start with 🤔?
it is a shame as I feel like I am going to have to take the laptop back. However another laptop may just bring me to same problem. Thanks for trying to help.
There is no point in contacting BT, they won't help with third party apps.
Can you log in to mail ok here https://home.bt.com/login/loginform?TARGET=$SM$https%3A%2F%2Fsignin1.bt.com%2Fbtmail%2Fsecure%2Femai...
Yes I can log in that way. I just really like outlook so wanted to use it. Thanks
For some reason there does seem to be problems with using Outlook 365. I use Outlook 2010 without problems.
Just to verify it isn't a problem with BT servers, can you download and install Thunderbird and see if that works. If it does, it would indicate the problem is with the configuration of Outlook 365.
