Re: Logging in to email

This may or may not be related but since the change this week, I can no longer log onto my BT e-mail using GMail. It is asking me the following:
Credentials needed: Enter credentials for *******@btinternet.com

It is doing this for every BT e-mail address.

Re: Logging in to email

It may have been related but per chance it is not  I have moved you onto your own thread because the thread you posted on was about a problem that only started today and has now been resolved.

Has your problem also been resolved or is it still happening?

Can you log onto your email accounts using the BT logon page rather than going through gmail?

Are you a BT Broadband customer or are you paying for a BT Premium email account?

Re: Logging in to email

Since this change I am having issues logging onto my BT e-mail using the GMail app on my Android phone.

I get the error message:
Credentials needed:
Enter credentials for *******@btinternet.com
where ***** is the rest of the e-mail address. It's the same for all my BT e-mail accounts.

When I go to enter in the details I get the error: Problem with account setup
Your username or password is incorrect.

The server details are:

Server: mail.btinternet.com

Port: 993

Security type: SSL/TLS

The BT web page on Email server settings has this under IMAP:

Port: 993, this should be automatically populated by selecting the SSL encryption

SSL Encryption: Enabled but not STARTTLS

Re: Logging in to email

Thanks for replying. This explains why the message disappeared when I was editing it.

I hadn't spotted that the thread was just today. I came across it doing a search using Google. My problems occurred since yesterday and I can log in directly to the BT Web site and I've rechecked the password for one account and it matches but I can't login, using GMail App still.

I am paying for BT premium e-mail.

Re: Logging in to email

I presume you have a BTID and can log onto your MyBT.

If so can you log on and go to "Your products" and then "Email, Manage" and check to see what is showing for the Type of email account you have and how many other email accounts you have associated with the account?

It should show Premium and the number of accounts should be all the ones that you had when you took out your Premium account.

Re: Logging in to email

It says my account is premium and that I am using 9 out of 11 e-mail addresses. It says Active email addresses (9).

However, it is only listed 7 and I only have 7.

I have given no e-mail addresses to friends or family or deleted any. So not sure why it says 9 e-mail addresses are active.

Re: Logging in to email

I was asking you to check because it may have been showing as Basic in which case you would not have been able to use your accounts in they way that you are with gmail but as it is showing Premium you should be able to use your account with gmail.

The settings you have posted are correct.

Can you try deleting one of your less used email accounts from gmail and then try setting it up again to see if that works.

It may be that when the "new" BTMail was introduced that the path from gamail to it was broken in someway.

Re: Logging in to email

I removed one e-mail account and when I tried to add it, I got errors about the password not being correct when it is.

I have successfully logged on to the account using the Chrome browser so I know the password works.
