Retrieving old emails

Hello, I'm trying to retrieve emails from 2023. I have found that several of my emails 'disappear', even quite recent ones! Thanks for suggestions.

Re: Retrieving old emails

Make sure that the "Conversation" View is not active.

To do that log onto your BTMail account and click on "View" in the menu bar at the right hand side. Scroll down and Single click "Conversation View" to toggle it on or off.

When you toggle it on or off you will see the name "Conversation View" change colour from grey to blue when it is turned on.

Thank you. I checked and Conversation View is grey. At the moment I can still only read emails back to May 2024.

Re: Retrieving old emails

If the emails are not on the BT servers when you check using webmail (using a web browser) it means that they have been deleted from the server and they can not be recovered.

Are the emails missing from folders or from your Inbox?

Do you access your email account on more than one device and if you do what type of device and how do you access the account, is it with a web browser or and email client/app?

Re: Retrieving old emails

Thank you. I simply log in to BT on my desktop and phone. I don’t know the difference between a web browser and an email client/app. They are missing from my inbox. I can only see back to May 2024. It looks as though there are more on the page but I can’t scroll down past May!

Re: Retrieving old emails

A web browser is what you would use to look at Internet sites and you would log onto your email account using a web page. You are probably using a web browser to view this forum.

The most popular web browser is Microsoft Edge which comes preinstalled with most Windows computers.

An email client or app is a stand alone program that is used solely to access your email account. It is what is most people use to access their email account when using a mobile device such as a phone although you can use a web browser on a phone.

Given the above information can you now establish what you are using on your desktop and phone?

I assume you are using a browser on your desktop, the problem of not being able to scroll down to view your emails it may be a browser problem. If you can are you able to access your email account on a friend or family member's computer? If you can this would rule out or in the browser being the problem.
