Since thunderbird updated to 91.7, it fails to connect to mail server and has not downloaded any emails. I have reentered the password and shutdown the computer but no change. Deleted the account and tried to set it up again but now can’t set up as it won’t connect. Help!

Are you a BT Broadband customer or are you paying for your email through a BT Premium email account?
Can you access and send/receive on your BTMail account using a web browser?
In answer to your questions, I am broadband customer and can access bt mail directly.
If this has only started since the T'bird update I would be inclined to uninstall T'bird altogether then reinstall it and set up the account again using the settings as per this link.
What are the settings for outgoing and incoming BT Email servers? | BT Help
Ok I’ll try that
Just to confirm it isn't a general problem with T'bird 91.7, it works fine for me.
Deleted Thunderbird and reinstalled. Thunderbird still can’t connect. It could not find the email settings. Even when I entered them manually it still can’t connect.
I just tried sending an email to my BT Internet email & received it back without any problem using 91.7. Also sent from my BT one without an issue.
Has anything else changed on your system like installing Norton?
Do other email accounts work OK?
BTW I use the POP mail server on port 995 not the IMAP one if that's relevant. That's if BT have IMAP as an option!
Yes I have installed Norton as part of a new BT contract. I have checked the settings and can’t see any issues, what should I check?
Just checked and hotmail doesn’t work either.
I don't have Norton but I'm guessing that there's a setting in there somewhere that controls what apps are allowed internet access.
Is there an option in Norton to temporarily disable it's protection , I have such an option in Kaspersky that I use?
Edit: Maybe this link will help as it shows how to allow a program internet access if this indeed the issue.
