Re: BT email buffering when responding to messages
In that case ignore all the things that have been previously posted because they are in relation to email clients or apps which you are not using.

Re: BT email buffering when responding to messages
Can you repost what exactly your problem is as it appears not to have been carried over into this thread when your post was moved onto its own thread.

Re: BT email buffering when responding to messages
'Your BT 2 internet settings are out of date'
One of our 3 PC's gets this flash message bottom right corner of screen when logging in....not every time but about 50/50.
All Windows 11 / MS Edge.
Thanks.
PS. How do I remove notifications to the master faults thread?

OK @EJB , you now know that the "Mail" app is your default e-mail program. We're at risk here of being accused of drifting off-topic but if you click Start, it may show up like this or under All Apps beginning with "M".
It may be starting automatically leading to the message "Your Btinternet account settings are out-of-date".
To stop this, click Start > Settings > Apps > "Installed apps". Scroll down to "Mail and Calendar" and click
the 3 dots menu and "Advanced options". Under "Background apps permissions", click the drop-down and select "Never".
Bear in mind, just to muddy the waters, Microsoft want us to move to their 'new' so-called Outlook app. So if you happen to run Mail, you may see messages such as "In 2024 Outlook is replacing Windows Mail and Calendar. Try the new Outlook". You may even find that you're automatically switched to it if you try to run Mail. I would guess that the Mail app will disappear altogether with future Windows 11 updates.

Re: BT email buffering when responding to messages
If the Mail app is not set up to use BTMail how on earth can it say its settings are out of date!
He is using webmail NOT the Mail app.

Re: BT email buffering when responding to messages
I appreciate that @EJB must be using webmail but the query was about a message popping up saying that "Your Btinternet account settings are out-of-date". I was just trying to enlighten the user as to the possible cause of this message since it does not originate from the webmail, of course, but users could be forgiven for thinking that there might be a connection. If the user is using a Microsoft a/c login ID for Windows (as opposed to a local account), I believe that Windows may decide to set up the Mail app with that address which can be a BT address. I've seen this happen and been slightly taken aback about the presumption of Microsoft that I should use the (poor) Mail app for managing my e-mails without asking and that it should start automatically. Microsoft have been very bullish in recent years about making changes to user's settings without asking or clearly informing the user.
If a user changes, or is forced to change, the BT e-mail password, this can then lead to that confusing message because Mail hasn't been apprised of the new password.

Our 3 PCs are all set to 'Power Optimised' (recommended) setting.
Only the one gives the 'Update' warning. It appears on most logins.
We do generally switch PCs on and off a number of times a day....since computers were invented in fact.
This machine is our prime PC so I have to tread very carefully.

Re: BT email buffering when responding to messages
From your screenshots, it's the Mail app causing the message "Your Btinternet account settings are out-of-date". So, you either put up with it or disable it running as a background app (as I described) or open Mail and delete the BT account within it or uninstall it.

Re: BT email buffering when responding to messages
I know @gg30340 . Yes, it appears the BT webmail is being used. Nonetheless, the Mail app in Windows is rearing its head because, somehow or other, (by someone or, more likely Windows as a consequence of using a BT address linked to a Microsoft account, to login to Windows on the PC), it's been set up with a BT address and is now grumbling that something's not right. So, @EJB needs to either put up with the error messages or do something with regard to the Mail app.

Re: BT email buffering when responding to messages
I'll change the setting to 'Never' when I can. 🙂
Thankyou so far.
