Yes, sorry, I assumed you were going to continue to use Thunderbird. You can export your BT contacts list as a CSV file in webmail and then import the file to Gmail.

I thought it might be useful to everyone else struggling to migrate their BT Connect e-mails over to another system, these guys have just helped me out - 

Search for Hosting Matters

They have just managed to copy all of my e-mails from my BT Connect account over to a new one and it was all very stress-free from my end!
