Re: BT Mail 2FA

If you have "gifted" the emails to them using the correct BT procedure

See link

Creating BT Email addresses | Email | BT Help

and they accepted the email account by setting up their own BTID they need to log into their MyBT and change their contact phone number from yours to theirs.

To do that they need to logon to their MYBT then go to "Your Details" then "Personal Details" then scroll down to the 2FA section and follow the edit prompts.

There are on going problems with the 2FA system so you may find that they can not make any changes at present.

If they were not "gifted" the email accounts it means that you are still the "owner" and your BTID/MyBT details are what is being used for the 2FA.

To stop that you will need to gift the email accounts to them so that they set up their own BTID and MyBT with their own details and phone numbers.

Re: BT Mail 2FA

Hi

Thanks for the advice . I did not gift them the email address as this was not a process 15 years ago when I set these emails up for my family.  I have had a look at the gifting process but it looks to be for new email addresses and not exciting ones  and I am weary of trying the process in case it affects the use of the addresses.

Re: BT Mail 2FA

You can "gift" any email that has not already been gifted. It is an easy procedure or at least was when I used it years ago.

To do that log onto your MyBT then go to Your Products then "Email, manage" then look for the email accounts you want to "gift" and click on "See Options". Click on  "Give this Email Address" then follow the process.

If who ever you are gifting it to does not have email address other than the one you are "gifting" click on the "Share without an email address" then follow the prompts. A link will be provided in your MyBT at the section "Emails you have given to friends and family" requesting that the user of the email account will need to use the link to set up their BTID in order to manage/activate the account.
