BT Mail - login loop

Go to solution

When trying to log in to btmail on chrome I have an issue where the login page (https://email.bt.com/mail/) loads and then automatically reloads before I can enter my details.

I am able to check my email on mobile and on microsoft edge but I still get this issue on chrome even after deleting cookies. It seems to be the same issue that some others have experienced e.g. https://community.bt.com/t5/General-email-queries/Email-login-loop/td-p/2352620 however, other forum threads don't explain how to solve the problem.

Please could someone help me to solve this issue.

Thanks

I wish I could help!

I've had exactly the same problem for a week i.e. can log-in via mobile but not via laptop.

It doesn't help that I have Basic email and therefore not even recognised as a customer on bt.com ...

Good morning @vineyardhouse and @BeyondHelpdesk

Could I please check if you have the URL bookmarked?

Are you able to try using incognito?

Thanks Katie, solved immediately by opening an incognito window and without changing the existing bookmark!

You’re a Star 🙂

If you delete your bookmark in the normal window and then use the link at the top of this forum to login and subsequently bookmark it, all will be fine in a normal window.

Re: BT Mail - login loop

I've had this issue for over two week on one laptop. My Android phone, Android tablet and another laptop running Windows 11 sign in to webmail accounts without hitch. But this one (also Windows 11) directs to https://email.bt.com/mail/index-rui.jsp?v=ci-MX_3.8.0 when I try to log in and the incessant loop begins and does not stop until closing the window.

The solution suggested about using In Private Window has worked. But the part about deleting the Favourite and resaving from the BT Home Page link has not resolved it for standard browser windows.

Save your bookmarks then try a reset of the browser

https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftedge/forum/all/how-to-reset-microsoft-edge-completely-f...

or carry out a reset then sync your browser with the other W11 laptop's browser to restore your bookmarks.

Re: BT Mail - login loop

Hi,

I am having the exact same issue. I can use the email on my phone but suddenly not on my chromebook!? I enter my login details and then it constantly flicks between a login page and a blank page with a timer - over and over and over.

I've deleted the bookmark but Email at the top of this page doesn't work, nor does googling BT email and clicking on the link?

I really need to amend my Depop account info which you can only do on the web, not in the app, but it sends a link to my email so I need to do it on my chromebook, not my phone (as it automatically sends me to the app).

Please help!!

Hi @Marcail

Welcome to the community.

Are you able to try using a different browser on your Chromebook to see if the same thing happens?

Re: BT Mail - login loop

My commiseration. I've made progress in my browser setting, at last.

I went to settings/security and deleted all cache, all cookies, then all browsing history on the laptop affected.

So the infernal loop has stopped. What remains is the annoying sequence, having filled in email and password, that now the browser (MS Edge) insists on going to the BT homepage, and I have to click on the Email tab AGAIN to reach the Inbox. Previously on logging in the Inbox opened.
