BT blocking sending and receiving my gmail emails

Hi there,

Suporting a family member with this one - my aunt can't send or receive emails to/from BT internet addresses via her Gmail account since May. We've checked filters (all clearered), IP (tried various locations), Google communities (no response), BT customer service (no response / not helpful / didn't resolve issue), and even a computer expert (believes this is a block on BT side) – nothing has worked. This is critical as she manages a 40-person email group for a secretarial role as has not been able to send or receive emails to / from BT internet accounts since May.

Please could you advise how we get BT to check and lift any blocks on this gmail email account?

Best,
Christina

Re: BT blocking sending and receiving my gmail emails

have you checked that if you sign in to BT Mail via browser that you can access account and send and receive emails.  if you also have access to BT MAIL app then try login and see if you can send receive emails

Is it one or more people that she is sending emails to that are not getting through?

Re: BT blocking sending and receiving my gmail emails

There are quite a number of posts on the forum where folks have accidentally blocked the Gmail domain, make sure the intended recipients haven't done so.

Re: BT blocking sending and receiving my gmail emails

Thank you. She has a Gmail account and is trying to send and receive to BT internet accounts. She therefore does not have a BT mail account to sign into. She could try asking a user she is trying to email to do this instead. What would this tell us if she does receive an email from someone who sent through the BT mail browser or App?

Re: BT blocking sending and receiving my gmail emails

She has tried sending to groups (a list of email addresses) as well as to and from various individuals. All group or direct emails to and from her Gmail to a BT internet account are blocked.

Please see message she receives when she tries to send an email to any BT email address attached.

Thank you. I'll ask her to check this but it would be a strange coincidence if all (~10) recipients to her group email list did this at the same time early May.

I would agree that it is not likely that ~10 users had all blocked gmail but until your post pointing that out nobody knew the number hence why you were asked it in message 3.

It would appear that because the sender has been sending to ~10 plus BT email accounts the BTMail system has marked the sender as a spammer.

They sender will need to contact the BT Post Master and ask them to unblock and white list the gmail address.

@christinabeveridge

I'd recommend using a free Mailchimp account for this. As well as eliminating her email address from BT's mail servers it will ensure GDPR compliance.
