Can’t add email account

My emails on ipad wouldn’t download from the server this morning.  I have deleted the mail account and tried to add the account again but I keep getting the message ‘Mail server is not responding.  Verify that you have entered the correct account information in mail settings’. I have definitely entered the correct info.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.  I didn’t know if it is because it’s quite an old ipad which doesn’t now allow upgrades.

There was a problem with BTMail earlier today but the issue has apparently been resolved.

As regards your problem are you presently a BT Broadband customer or are you paying for your email through a BT Premium email account?

If neither of the above your email account may have been downgraded to a BTMail Basic account which can not be used with an email client or email app.

Thanks for your reply.  Have had BT broadband for a number of years.  My husband’s iPad and phone are downloading emails okay.

I presume that you are using the iPad "Mail" app?

Since the time you deleted the email account have you restarted the iPad?

Are you able to log onto your email account when using a web browser?

Did you change the password when setting up the email account?

When setting up the email account on your device you are best to set it up manually, using "other" and ensure that you are using the correct settings as per this link.

Can you re-check that they are correct.
