I have BT Email Standard.
Running Android 16 and security patch level 1st October 2025
Previously I accessed email through the Google Mail client, for the past week every time I add the BT account, it works retrieves the emails and folders.
But if I exit and then go back in the BT account is not there.
Email works perfectly ok using the BT email client, but I preferred having everything in one place.

Hi @allanmcm.
Thanks for coming to the community.
Does your BT email account disappear immediately after closing Gmail or is this happening after a restart?
Have you tried clearing the Gmail app cache or reinstalling it?
Are you using IMAP or POP for your BT email in Gmail?
Debbie
Thanks,
yes I had cleared the cache.
In google mail, I select add another account
then Other
then email address and password
It retrieves the emails and folders, but if I close the app and after a while open it again the BT account is not there.
Thanks for getting back to us @allanmcm.
Are you using the latest version of the Gmail app?
Could you go to Settings > Apps > Gmail > Permissions to check that Gmail has the required permissions enabled, such as Storage and Contacts.
I’d also recommend checking Settings > Battery > App Optimisation and setting Gmail to Don’t optimise to make sure Gmail isn’t restricted by battery optimisation settings.
Debbie
Just added a test BT internet account to my Android Gmail app, works just fine.
thank you,
I am using the latest version of the app.
I changed the battery setting from optimised to unrestricted, and thus far it is stable and retained the settings.
