I recently had to change my BT ID/email password. Now I cannot send emails from the BT account address when using the mail apps on my iPad, iPhone, or iMac. I can receive BT account emails on the apps and I can send & receive on the BT web based mail.
I have tried deleting and recreating the account but then get the message "Cannot connect using SSL, do I want to continue?" . But the advice at https://www.bt.com/help/email/manage-email-account/manual-settings/what-are-the-settings-for-outgoin... says SSL should be used.
If I select yes it spends several minutes verifying and then says the SMTP server is not responding and I should check the information entered. If I select no it warns me that the account might not send or receive emails.
All help appreciated.

Re: Changed BT email password, now can't send emails from iPad, iPhone or iMac
Are you presently a BT Broadband customer or are you paying for your email through a BT Premium email account?
If neither of the above your email account may have been downgraded to a BTMail Basic account which can not be used with an email client

Hello @gg30340 .
Yes I am a BT customer. After three days the problem has disappeared and when I re-create the accounts on an iPad & iPhone it sets IMAP automatically. The iMac client prompts and accepts the new password as well.
