I used to have my e-mail page on all the time. 2 weeks ago it began to timeout after only about 5 minutes, even when I'm typing a message. I can't find anywhere to extend or cancel the timeout. It will not let me log in again until I've cleared browsing history. It's a real pain - any ideas?

There is no way that you can change the log out time. As long as you are actively using the email account ie typing an email, you should not be logged out.
I know you have said you have cleared your history but you should also clear your cookies and ensure that the web browser that you are using is up to date.
If that doesn't help you will need to contact BT 0330.1234.150 and ask to speak to the email team and report the problem to them.
As an aside, the best way to access your email is to use an email client such as Thunderbird or email app. They give you far more control over your email and are not subject to the niggles that BTMail webmail has.
BT helpline was no help but I might try them again.
I could not understand why it suddenly changed without any notification.
