If I move my current BT Broadband to an EE broadband package will my current Standard BT Email plan be downgraded to BT Basic Email. I need to have written confirmation from BT in order to make an informed decision on my new broadband contract. Thanks.

Re: EMAIL

Go to solution

Your BTMail email accounts will stay as they are. You will still manage them through your MyBT.

See link which is a few years old but still relevant.

You will NOT get confirmation of this in your order.

Re: EMAIL

Sorry but I'm still hesitant to accept your reply, albeit encouraging, as formal response from BT. There seem to be numerous contributors within this Community who have different views.

Are you qualified to speak as part of BT or just a helpful contributor.

I was just on the phone to a Liam in BT re 'upgrading' my current BT broadband to EE and he said that my email account would be downgraded from Standard to BT Basic email.

There seem to be differing views on this! Thanks.

Re: EMAIL

I am not and never have been employed by BT.

My reply is based on my knowledge that I have by being a member of this forum.

As far as I am aware, any person that has posted on this forum that their email was "downgraded" to BTMail Basic when they transferred from BT to EE  had this resolved when it was pointed out to them to complain to EE as that should not have happened.

The EE Customer Service rep is wrong but if you would rather take on board what the EE Customer Service reps have told you then by all means do that.

Have a look at this thread and the message No.20 about the reply from the BT CEO's office

@iant72

the link which @gg30340 posted initially is by the forum manager who is a BT employee and confirms you keep your BT email address on moving to EE

Re: EMAIL

Thanks for the reply.  But @gg30340 doesn't confirm that I keep my current Standard BT email.  All he confirms is that I keep my current BT email address. That's completely different. I think you could keep your BT email address but still be moved to BT basic email. I'm sorry to appear over cautious but I've been had by this sort of thing too many times.

Re: EMAIL

Oh for goodness sake.

As I stated in my first message "Your BTMail email accounts will stay as they are. You will still manage them through your MyBT."

Which means you keep all your current email accounts which are your email addresses. Nothing will change regarding your email.

I will no longer be posting anything further about this!
