Why does EE ask for verification to keep account active only for the cricket club account in my name and not our other account in husband's name. Both are protected by BT changing password before completing, so verifying the cricket club account would not be easy! Is this genuine?
Solved! Go to Solution.
If you are ever worried about whether such an email is genuine, then log into the account directly - not using any links that you've been given. If any security updates are needed the site will tell you directly when you log in.
One reason you can get requests about keeping an account active would be if it only ever receives emails once in a blue moon. So again, just logging in DIRECTLY should be enough!
I am assuming you are referring to a BTMail email account that you use for the cricket club.
The email you have received is a scam. EE do not have an email service.
If your account is a BTMail email account it is BT who run that service and EE would not be asking for verification of a BTMail account and neither would BT if the account is in regular use and that means using it at least once in 60 days.
If you hover your mouse over the email address that sent you the email it will show you the true address of who sent it to you.
The other way of checking is to log onto the email account using a web browser and tick the box to the left of email in the list of emails then go to "More" in the menu bar above the list then go to "View Source" and that will show you the genuine email address that sent you the email.
Thank you very much
