Re: How can I turn OFF spam filters

Go to solution

I don't want ANY emails going into the Spam folder!  I am quite happy for ALL emails to come into my inbox and I will decide what I am interested in and what I am not interested in. Currently important emails are going to spam occasionally and I am unaware that they have gone there. I do not want to have to check the spam folder every time I log in, how to I disable it!?

I thought it was quite clear in my post that you can not turn off the BT spam filters in BTMail and you can not have all emails that are suspected of being spam that are sent to your BTMail spam folder send to your BTMail Inbox instead.

Just in case it was not clear.....  you can not turn off the spam filters in BTMail and you can not have the emails that are suspected of being spam that are sent to your BTMail spam folder sent to your BTMail Inbox instead.

If you would rather have all the spam that goes to you BTMail spam folder sent to your BTMail Inbox YOU should set up "Rules" to do that as was pointed out in the other thread you have posted on about this.

And there it was also said that they don't work. I've tried it and it seems so to me too.

Just because there is not way currently to turn it off doesn't mean that the providers of BTMail shouldn't listen to requests from their customers to make a change so that it IS available. We could then stop harping on about the inanity of the situation where spam STILL ends up in the Inbox and the vast majority of mail that ends up in the so called Spam folder is NOT spam but genuine often important email.

Nobody posting on this forum has said that BT should not listen to those that want all the spam filters to be turned off on their account so that all the spam goes to their Inbox.

As you are no doubt aware, this is a Customer to Customer self help forum and the forum members have no direct route to BT.  If that is what you want you should contact BT directly and request that they enable the ability for BTMail users to turn off the spam filters on their email account.

I suspect I know what the answer will be but if you do decide to contact BT please keep the forum updated with the result of your request.

Re: How can I turn OFF spam filters

I just posted an enquiry which I'd hoped someone would reply to with a sensible answer. I didn't expect to get a reply from some Prima Donna complaining because I hadn't seen their posting! Perhaps it would be a good idea if BT's customer service was a bit better, then people wouldn't have to go trawling around community sites like this trying to find the answer to their questions!!

Perhaps you should learn how forums work. Read before posting to see if your query has been answered 4 times already in the thread!!!!

Re: How can I turn OFF spam filters

I had in fact already contacted BT directly but it  took a while for the complaint to be taken seriously. Tenacity eventually paid off and they did listen to my complaint that email was being put into the spam folder even though the sender was in my safe senders. They couldn't resolve the problem but then I hit on the word "escalate", and they did indeed duly escalate the issue to the next tier of help and that is where we are, still working through some issues that I will report on when there's more to say.

What has happened so far is that about 10 days ago, long enough to see if it really has had an effect, they made a change since when neither I nor my wife have had any email going into the spam folder from senders already in our individual safe senders. This is a positive step. We have both had email arrive in the spam folder, but always* from those not in our (individual) safe senders - some has even been actual spam!

I've tried to get them to tell me if the change is a generic one that will benefit everyone or if it has been specifically targeted at just our mailboxes (surely not!). Perhaps some of you who have been experiencing the same could check if email coming into your spam folder  comes from addresses already in your safe senders.

* I say always but one of the quirks currently being investigated is that emails from 2 particular addresses (in safe senders) keep getting moved to spam no matter how often I mark them as not spam and see them migrate to the inbox. A short time later (not immediately) they reappear in spam. The is the first of the other things on the list to be investigated.

Since it has been escalated I've been reasonably impressed with the seriousness with which they are treating the issues.

I'll report more as there are developments.
