For years the email system has allowed me to start typing the recipient address then comes up with a list of all the ones in my contacts + recently used with the same letters, and I can then select the one I want. In the last couple of weeks this has stopped working. Now if I click on the one I want, it doesn’t pick up the complete email address and just says it’s an “invalid entry”. So I’m having to enter email addresses by hand. Any advice on how to resolve this?

Thanks for alerting me to this, yes I am using Firefox. Hope they are on the case as it's extremely tedious as others have said!
I've since logged this with Firefox but only one other BT user appears to have done so too. Might be helpful if more were to do so - it's still a problem.
I having the same problem I found this and it works,
clicking the "To" button (or label) in the address field while composing an email is an effective way to access your full contact list when autocomplete fails
this lets you select all you contaacts not ideal but will do until this issue is fixed
