Is the Password the same for @btopenworld.com and @btinternet.com accounts

Go to solution

I believe the email suffixes @btopenworld.com and @btinternet.com are effectively the same domains,  but the password for one does not work for the other.    It that because the log in credentials treat the usernames as different text strings, so they are not interchangeable?

I've lost password access to @btopenworld.com, which historically most of my contacts & apps use, but have access to   @btinternet.com

Any suggestions please on how best to rationalise this?

TIA

In terms of email login, they are interchangeable and passwords will be the same.

Obviously if you use the address as a login to any other website, it will just be a text string and the passwords will be whatever you have set them to and not necessarily the same.

Thanks for the confirmation - and that text string argument also applies to web-based forums, I suppose?

Yes, they are only interchangeable in the context of logging in to BT email.
