I have just got a new iPad. Emails worked ok on my old iPad, but I keep getting an account error message for one of the email accounts I have. I have tried all sorts.
reentering password
deleting account and readding email.
turning iPad on and off.
checking settings.
this might work for 10 minutes then same issue again.
i am wondering it it but stopping the iPad from downloading all my old and new emails.
it is really being problematic.
help please.
Are you presently a BT Broadband customer or are you paying for your email through a BT Premium email account or did you migrate to EE Broadband?
If none of the above your email account may have been downgraded to a BTMail Basic account which can not be used with an email client or email apps.

Hi.
I am with EE, was with BT.
i contacted BT and the very unhelpful ‘guide’ says that bt email is not compatible with apple mail, even though it has been working for years. He then closed the conversation before I had time to tell him that.
i am at a loss. I don’t like the BT app as much as apple mail.
Hi @Surfncanoe,
Thanks for visiting the BT Community
What is the exact error you are getting when trying to add your account to the Applemail app? You mention one of your email addresses being the problem, do you have multiple btinternet addresses and you have been able to add others?
Have you tried adding the account manually with the BT Email server settings?
Alex
Hi Alex
First I downloaded everything from iCloud to my new iPad.
Both emails migrated ok, but then mine stopped after downloading 3000 emails.
Followed various instructions, deleting account adding it again, changing the fetch settings etc etc.
The last time it worked up to downloading 6000 emails.
Then I get the same account error message saying the mail.btinternet server is not responding.
It seems to be BT not syncing with apple mail.
Thanks
ian
Thanks for coming back to us, @Surfncanoe.
If the account works for a period of time before showing the error again, are you still able to access the mailbox through BT Mail when this happens, or is the issue only affecting Apple Mail on the iPad?
Debbie
I would suggest that you try clearing out some of the emails that you have stored and in particular if they are in the Inbox.
