No incoming emails

Go to solution

Good afternoon and a Happy New Year

Since yesterday, one of my two email accounts has stopped receiving any new messages. I can send messages without any problem using either my Thunderbird Client or BT Webmail. I have tried sending an email to myself - it shows in the "sent" emails but does not arrive in the inbox.

This was first noticed yesterday when a neighbour sent an SMS asking why I hadn't replied to his email. I have not been able to find anything obvious and would welcome any suggestions.

Thank you

Check in webmail settings that forwarding hasn't been enabled to a different address by a hacker.

Thank you, no forwarding set.

I thought the incoming had just now commenced although the email from the neighbour is nowhere to be seen. He mentioned he had added a largish attachment but this should not have caused, shall we say, a blockage. However, this is not the case.

There are now a couple of incoming mails but  not everything, especially those I sent to myself in order to test.

This is so frustrating.

Check you have not blocked the senders email address or the domain (the part after @) .

To do that log onto your BTMail account using a browser, not an email client/app, and then click on your username at the right hand side.

Select "Settings" then go to the left hand side and select "Mail". Scroll down and click on "Blocked Senders". Scroll down the list until you find the one you want to unblock and select it.

Click on the small "Trash" symbol at the right hand side. It will only delete the email address from the blocked senders list not your contacts list.

Thanks. Problem now solved.

I thought I was an octogenarian guru but apparently not! One of the blocked items was, I shamefully admit, btinternet.com!

I would not have done that intentionally and believe I may have selected it by error in amongst a pile of spam! I shall be more careful in future!
