Not receiving your BT email PIN by text or email?

Sometimes we’ll send you a one‑time PIN to confirm it’s really you logging in.

If your PIN hasn’t arrived by SMS or email, it’s usually been filtered or blocked. Run through the checks below, they solve this for most customers.

On an iPhone

  1. Open the Messages app
  2. Tap Filters (if shown in the top left) and check:
  • Unknown Senders
  • Unread Messages
  • Junk Messages

To turn off message filtering, go to Settings > Apps > Messages > Unknown & Spam and turn off "Filter Unknown Senders"

Also check your blocked contacts

  • Go to Settings > Apps > Messages
  • Tap Blocked Contacts
  • Make sure BT numbers are not blocked

On an Android Phone

  1. Open the Messages app
  2. Tap the Profile icon (picture or initials) or the three‑dot menu
  3. Select Spam & Blocked

If you still can't find the message, click the Search Icon and tap Unread or Unknown.  You could also try searching for messages from BT.

On BT Webmail

Click your email address in the top right, then select Settings > Mail > Blocked Senders and ensure the following are not blocked:

Re: Not receiving your BT email PIN by text or email?

I now cannot pick up BT mail at work as we do not have access to wi-fi and my mobile has no signal so cannot get the 2FA PIN.  This is incredibly frustrating as sometimes it it is really important for me to get my mail at work.  Thanks BT for messing this up and not giving us a choice!

Forward your BT email to a gmail account and use that to get your emails as gmail is more lax about security and allow you to turn off 2FA.

Have you found a work round to this yet. I discovered on holiday I couldn't access the Internet as I'd always done as I needed access to the Internet to get the code!

How does that work if you need the pin to access the Internet in the first place?

@Polly64

You have stated in your own thread that you are using the EEWifi to access the Internet and can not connect to it.

Please stick to your own thread as it is not relevant to this thread.

Re: Not receiving your BT email PIN by text or email?

Thank you for taking the time to try and resolve this problem

I have an iPhone 13, have gone through all the steps you recommend but still not getting a message from BT with a PIN number, the web page sign -in gives the correct last 4 numbers of my mobile number but I do not receive any message.

I am not sure if the problem is BT not sending the message or my phone not receiving it.

I can access my BT email account on other PC and mobile phone.

Is there any other way I can confirm my account?

Thanks Ray

The first thing I'd do is check whether you have any spam filtering turned on.

That doesn't help if you've not got any Internet access which is what your trying to access

Re: Not receiving your BT email PIN by text or email?

If it comes by email then yes, but I was assuming it came via an SMS text.

If it comes by email, then try a different email client on a computer.  (I take it you've already checked the spam folder on your current email client?)
