Hi,
For a long time I have been used, when typing an email on my PC, to the font size changing to a smaller font, and having to move my cursor back to the end of the previous line and hit return to go back the the original font. However, at least I could see what was happening and correct it.
Just lately the font size is being randomly changed but it isn’t apparent when I am composing the email. However it looks ridiculous when I, or the recipient, view the email on a different device.
I use webmail on my PC, via the Chrome browser.
Can anyone please advise how I can fix this?
In anticipation I need to point out that I do not want to use an email client on my PC. This is because my past experience is that I end up with a mismatch between what is in the email client on the PC and what is on the web server, and my other devices all just see what is on the web server. I need consistency.
Thanks,
Sue

If the client is configured as IMAP, there will be total consistency.
I suspect your previous experience was as a result of configuring the client as POP3.
When you previously used an email client on your PC you must have set your PC email client up as a POP3 account instead of an IMAP account.
If you set your email client/app up as an IMAP account this would synchronise with the BT servers and all the other devices that you use that have IMAP accounts and they would all show the same emails, folders etc.
As regards your webmail problem, try clearing the history and cookies from your Chrome browser and or try a different browser to see if that helps.
@Sue036 did you try a different browser?
I have just tried sending an email to myself using a different web browser and exactly the same thing happens - when I view the email on my phone the font size has changed halfway through the email.
I imagine that means that clearing cookies etc won't help? I suppose I can try that anyway. Will report back.
Hmmm, the font didn't change size after clearing cookies, etc. Will have to wait to see if this is because it is now fixed, or just a one-off!
I do still have problems with line spacing, which is also annoying. I am also irritated by not being able to view the full text of some emails, including the ones I send, because the text doesn't wrap around. The workaround for this is to pull up the print view.
I probably did have Outlook Express (I think that was it?) set up as POP3. To be honest I can't recall. I am happy with how Apple Mail works on my mobile devices but can't use that on my Windows PC. There is an iCloud for Windows app but I have never felt able to use that because it requires me to use Microsoft Outlook and I am scared of that in case it mangles my emails! I access iCloud via my web browser on my PC, to get at my photos and calendar, but that is a bit clunky.
I will be changing my PC later this year, so maybe that will be the right time to reconsider all of this?
You should try the free Thunderbird email client. It is used by myself and others on the forum and is very good and reliable.
If you set it up as an IMAP account it will synchronise with your other devices and and the BT servers so that what you do on one device will be replicated on all your devices. ie. if you send an email from one device it will show in the sent folder of all your devices.
I will consider Thunderbird, along with other options, when I get my new PC.
Clearing my cookies seems to have resolved the problem with my webmail for now. Marking the post that suggested this as the 'accepted solution'.
Thanks to all that offered advice.
