Re: BT Webmail URL is blocked by EE

We have a similar problem with BT webmail on the desktop: can only log in if all browsing history, cookies, etc. are cleared. No such problem with "MyBT" - can log in and see email account. This problem only started about 8 days ago but our Broadband has been with EE since March 2024 (after being "migrated" by BT), so seems odd that the problem has only just manifested itself.  Isn't this something for BT/EE (supposedly the same company now) to resolve? Although we have a work-around, it's very frustrating.

Should also add that we're still on Windows 10 and that desktop isn't WI-FI enabled so connected to router using "matching plugs" (not sure what the technical term is).

Re: BT Webmail URL is blocked by EE

Are you able to log on if you use the Email button at the top of this page?

Re: BT Webmail URL is blocked by EE

No I can't, I'm afraid; I probably could if I deleted all browsing history first.

Which web browser are you using and are you able to try a different web browser in case it is a browser problem?

Re: BT Webmail URL is blocked by EE

I normally use Chrome (AVG Secure Browser) but I've just tried on Microsoft Edge and have the same problem.

Re: BT Webmail URL is blocked by EE

What exactly happens when you try to logon using the email button at the top of this page? ie Does it try to logon or does nothing happen etc.

Re: BT Webmail URL is blocked by EE

When I try to log in without deleting browser, etc. data first, I enter my user name and password on the usual Secure Authentication page and then a white screen appears which alternates between the BT symbol with 3 solid black moving dots underneath [URL for this screen is email.bt.com/mail/index-ruijsp?v=MX_3.10.0.2] and a log in page with the user id and password  boxes in the  middle of the screen [URL for this screen is email.bt.com/mail/saf/login.jsp]. While these screens are alternating, the BT symbol in the tab is "buffering".

Re: BT Webmail URL is blocked by EE

That issue has happened to me previously.

As a work around until it was resolved I did as you are doing and that was to clear history and cookies (from all time) then used the direct logon page ie click on the email button at the top of this page. When the logon page opened I then saved the opened email page as a "favourite" .

Once the logon was established I then logged off and closed the browser. I reopened the browser and using the "favourite" page which now brought up the logon page and  I was able to log on again repeatedly without issue and without clearing the history etc.

I never reported a fault with BT because the problem resolved itself at some point and I could logon without the use of the "favourite" logon page. I do not know how it was fixed or if it was just one of the BT mail servers playing up.

If it is an email server playing up you could try and switch off your BT hub for about 30 minutes and when you turn it back on you should have been issued with a new IP address and hopefully connected to a different email server.

If that does not work for you in order to get a permanent fix you will need to contact BT 0330.1234.150 and ask for the email team and explain the problem including what happens when you do try to log on as per your last post.

Re: BT Webmail URL is blocked by EE

Thank you for your suggestions.  Our computer was upgraded to Windows 11 this week, hence the delay in response. Rather than have the BT mail page as the home page, the BT home page is a favourite  and logging in to email without deleting all history is working on occasions, so I'll see if this is permanent over the next couple of weeks.  I'm a bit reluctant to switch off the hub, which is now an EE one (following the "BT suggested" migration last year from BT to EE) instead of a BT one. Thank you again.
